How Dentists Get Recommended by ChatGPT

When a patient asks ChatGPT for the best dentist near them, a dentist that takes their insurance, or an emergency dentist on a Sunday, the AI names a few practices. Dental practices get into that answer with three things, find, trust, and match, applied to dentistry. Here's each one.

Watch the walkthrough, or read it below. Same answer either way.

1. Make sure the AI can find you

Claim and complete your Google Business Profile, set the right categories for what you do (general, cosmetic, pediatric), and list your full service area and hours. Keep your practice name, address, and phone number identical everywhere, across every listing and dental directory. If a new patient across town is in your area, your profile has to make that clear, or the AI sends them elsewhere.

2. Reviews build trust

For a dentist, trust is mostly reviews. People are nervous about the dentist, and they lean hard on reviews before they book, and so does the AI. Ask happy patients for a Google review after their visit, and make it easy. Then get listed in the health and dental directories and keep your information current. Those outside signals are what make the AI comfortable putting your name forward.

3. Match the questions patients ask

Patients don't search 'general dentistry services provider.' They ask for a dentist that takes their specific insurance, a dentist open on Saturday, a pediatric dentist, teeth whitening near me, or an emergency dentist right now. Write a clear page for each, in plain language. The insurance question especially, spell out the plans you take, because it's one of the most common things a patient asks an AI before they ever call.

The new-patient and emergency edge

New-patient and emergency searches are your highest-intent moments. Someone with a toothache at nine at night is asking an AI who to call, and they're ready to book. If you offer same-day or emergency appointments, or new-patient specials, make sure that's on your profile and your website, because that's often exactly what tips the AI's answer toward you.
